We're almost midway through 2019 and we're continuing to launch lots of exciting product improvements. Highlights this month include major improvements to file sharing and Workplace Chat. We also streamlined parts of the admin setup experience. Check out what's new in Workplace this month!

Untangle work with Workplace

From informing everyone about the return to the office to adopting a hybrid way of working, Workplace makes work more simple.

File collaboration made easier

File collaboration made easier

Files are at the heart of collaboration. And we believe that being able to share and discover the right files and content is key to getting work done. We introduced a lot of new features to make sharing and discovering files easier, more flexible, and more efficient. These features include:

  • Attaching multiple files in a post from desktop and cloud providers e.g. Dropbox, Box, Sharepoint, OneDrive and Google Drive
  • Adding files to comments
  • Adding files to Workplace Chat messages
  • Native Microsoft Sharepoint and OneDrive, and Google Drive file pickers
  • Linking folders to a group
  • Improved Files tab on the new Workplace experience

Making it easier to find what you need on Chat

Making it easier to find what you need on Chat

Chat is central to the way we communicate and work today, but it can quickly become a noisy space. Workplace Chat helps you focus on what's important with the new unread line & shared content tab.

The new shared content tab lets you easily rediscover files, photos, and videos that people have shared within a chat conversation in one central place. Just go to the menu of any of your chats to find shared content.

When you open a chat thread you're now brought to the last message you read in the conversation. Workplace Chat will also display a divider line to indicate the number of unread messages you have. These improvements are the first of several upcoming Workplace Chat enhancements!

Take time to recharge with scheduled Do Not Disturb

Take time to recharge with scheduled Do Not Disturb

Workplace helps you to feel more connected than ever while you work from anywhere. But that doesn't mean you should always be connected. To help people strike the right work-life balance we've added the ability to schedule Do Not Disturb in Workplace.

Do Not Disturb signals to when you're not available and mutes incoming chats, video, and voice calls when you're busy or away. And now you can create a recurring do not disturb schedule after work and on your days off to make sure you're taking time to disconnect and recharge.

To set a do not disturb schedule, click on your profile image in the lower left-hand corner of Workplace and click Do Not Disturb > Do Not Disturb Schedule. If you're using the old Workplace design, just go to Workplace Chat and click the gear icon > Do Not Disturb.

You can choose the full days that you want Do Not Disturb enabled and the schedule you want to enable for every day of the week. In addition to your schedule, you can always enable do not disturb when you want some time to focus. Scheduled Do Not Disturb will be available to everyone in the coming days. Check out the Help Center for more details.

Attribute mapping with Azure AD and GSuite

We're launching a new native integration setup with Azure and GSuite which will allow you to map profile attributes from Azure AD or GSuite to Workplace. This means you can now more easily manage Workplace users with Azure AD and GSuite without having to leave Workplace.

More tools for Azure AD and GDrive

Once you connect Azure AD or GSuite to your Workplace community, we'll automatically keep accounts in sync so that if people join or leave, Workplace will instantly update. You can find more information about this feature in the Help Centre article.
